Essential Carpentry Skills

Learn the foundations of carpentry and joinery in our Essential Skills course. This course is designed for adults with little or no prior experience, helping you to build confidence in carpentry and joinery.

In this course, you will learn how to sharpen and use hand tools, measure accurately, and cut basic joints. You will finish with your own mini-project to take home.

Our Essential Carpentry Skills course is ideal for adults who want to learn carpentry and joinery properly from the ground up. Over 24 culminative hours, you will develop practical woodworking skills in a small group setting, under the expert guidance of our lead tutor, Paul.

Course Content

During this course, you will learn how to:

~ identify common hand tools

~ sharpen tools

~ measure and cut timber accurately

~ disassemble, sharpen and assemble planes

~ use hand tools safely and to a high standard

~ hand cut basic joints

~ create your own small project, so that you can take home a beautiful wooden piece made entirely by you
