Make a Solid Wooden Stool is a hands-on one-day woodworking course in Hereford for beginners looking to build a strong and practical piece of furniture. In a supportive workshop setting, you’ll learn how to measure, cut, assemble and finish timber while creating a durable stool designed for long-term use.
In this practical one-day workshop at Hereford Woodcraft Academy, participants will build a sturdy wooden stool from either oak or softwood. Guided step-by-step by an experienced instructor, you will learn how to shape, assemble, and finish timber to create a strong and functional piece of furniture.
The finished stool features a solid timber seat supported by four securely fixed legs. Participants will cut components to size, assemble the structure accurately, and smooth and finish the wood to produce a durable and attractive stool suitable for use in the home or workshop.
By the end of the day you will leave with a completed handmade stool, along with practical woodworking skills, increased confidence using tools, and the knowledge needed to continue developing your woodworking abilities.
During this course, participants will learn to:
Measure and mark out accurately
Safely use essential woodworking hand and bench tools
Cut timber components to size using saws and workshop machinery
Shape and assemble a stable stool seat and leg structure
Assemble timber components using screws and accurate fixing techniques
Sand and apply a professional finish

Both options result in the same finished design. The difference is in feel, weight, appearance, and longevity.
