Make a Wooden Side Table is a one-day woodworking course in Hereford for beginners who want to create a simple, elegant piece of furniture. Working in a professional workshop environment, you’ll learn how to measure, cut, assemble and finish timber while building a functional side table designed for everyday use.
In this practical one-day workshop at Hereford Woodcraft Academy, participants will build a simple and elegant wooden side table from either oak or softwood. With step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor, you will learn how to measure, cut, assemble, and finish timber to create a useful and attractive piece of furniture.
The finished table features a solid timber tabletop supported by four legs and a sturdy frame. Participants will prepare the timber components, assemble the table accurately, and sand and finish the surfaces to produce a strong and durable table suitable for use beside a sofa, chair, or bed.
By the end of the day you will leave with a completed handmade side table, along with practical woodworking skills, greater confidence using tools, and the knowledge needed to continue exploring woodworking projects at home.
During this course, participants will learn to:
Measure and mark out accurately
Safely use essential woodworking hand and bench tools
Cut timber components to size using saws and workshop machinery
Assemble a stable table frame and leg structure
Sand and apply a professional finish
